ABOUT THE EXPLORATION:
El Yunque National Forest (EYNF) has over 28K acres and it rains over 200 inches per year on the upper slopes over 2,500 feet. It was preserved by Spain in the 1800's and US in the 1900's to the present. It was decimated by hurricane Maria 140MPH winds in 2017 but it is recovering - as we see here.
Before the hurricane it received over 2 million visitors per year. Raul and El Yunque Store have compiled over 20K images of the forest to document it.
In El Toro Wilderness - protected US Federal land by the USDA and USFS - Tradewinds and Rio Sabana trail.
Gone walkabout woop woop for 4 days in El Yunque rainforest:
7/2020 Exploration crossing the entire El Yunque National Park in Puerto Rico in 4 days - a dangerous trek of about 24Km (Tradewinds - 14Km and Rio Sabana Trail - 10Km) in the week of july 4 2020 by Raul - Yunque Explorer.
Bring home the most remote, rarely seen, regions of the rainforest in Puerto Rico.
This region has little visibility due to the dense forest. It is very rare to see these views from the trail.
The trail is quite abandoned and it is dangerous and very, very long and slippery, with many cliffs on the side to add more risk. You simply must have great care at each step to survive in most sections of it.
We have videos in you tube that describe the forest contents (day 1 2013 exploration tradewinds):
