The Weird Random Numbers

We all know random numbers, but they are hard to understand well and explain.

The field of Math the specializes on these random numbers is called Probability, which is based on other fields like algebra, calculus or analysis.

Statistics is also based on Probability theory.

The simplest example is the toss of a coin: H or T as the only possible results.

I have tossed a coin 10 times, on the toss #5 what came out - please answer H or T.

No matter what you said YOU DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE.

That is a random quantity or variable, like X = H or X=T is a random variable.

In contrast if x + 7 = 10 then you know for sure that x is 3. This is NOT random.

Now to expand: First in a random even there is a POPULATION OF POSSIBLE EVENTS. In the above case for 1 trow it is the set [H,T] where order does not matter.

If the want to represent 5 throws we can write HHTTH for eample.

To make it relevant to our topic:

EACH MONTH WE WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT PERCENT OF INCIDENCE OF COVID 19 COMPUTED AS FOLLOWS (like JH does):

TOTAL PEOPLE DIED WHO HAD COVID 19 / TOTAL PEOPLE CERTIFIED AS HAVING HAD COVID 19 IN TESTS IN THE ENTIRE USA

BOTH DURING THE SAME EXACT PERIOD, DAY, MONTH OR YEAR.

This will be a RANDOM sequence since nobody knows how the complex interactions of some many millions of people, their level of health and immunity to resist the illness, the number of spreaders with no or undetected symptoms, pressures to attend church services, funerals or work or school or rallies and many other variables will discuss later.

So for example it would be like:
